Photography had been my main stay hobby for 30years so looking for another interest to fulfill the wet winter months came quite easy as I have  been a SWL for some while, In 1999 I joined the Yeovil Amateur Radio Club and passed the RAE in June2000  my interest mainly was in HF and found it difficult to reach the required CW standard and eventually passed my CW exam at the 2002 QRP Convention.
I'm not a keen contest person but do enjoy attending field days and local fetes where a station can be set up, in 2001 I took part in the activation of rare square SY38 2 miles west of Lyme Regis, the photo on the right shows the HF station at the Ham Hill barbeque using an inverted V antenna supported by a fishing pole,

I mainly operate phone with the occasional Data modes PSK31 & SSTV,  I have an ambition to operate QRP on the summit of Snowdonia North Wales one of my favorite holidaying places.

Other interests include some kit building, the restoration of my Cosser Valve radio and still enjoy taking the odd photo at club events,

Since joining the club I have served 5 years on the committee 4 of those as chairman and serve on the QRP Convention committee,
